After the Big Bang: Xan

Yes, we know she was vanquished utterly. But come on, this is XAN. If you think being blown to molecules and then getting a rock on her is going to stop Xantippe Fortune, you didn’t read the book.

What do you think happened to Xan after the story was over?

I’m pretty sure she’s going to piece herself back together and stir the pot. So to speak. :D

I think when she saw the rock falling she got her head out of the way. Heh. She knew her power was in her mind not her heart, that had been flattened years ago. So she lay there wounded and breathless for a few minutes and then began her re-creation. Little swirls of gold dust rose and took shape.

Finally together, she decides she’s willing to let the girls go with their soulmates and find out who they are and what they want to do with their individual powers. Maybe, just maybe those powers will get stronger now the girls are in love. Stranger things have happened. Hmmm? And what about their offspring? That could be some amazing energy to tap into.
Xan works on her own powers rebuilding herself mind and body and forgoes her quest for eternal youth. She figures, “Ah what the heck, add a little heart, it can’t hurt.” Then she rethinks it, says, “Nah.” She’ll be old and wrinkled but she’ll be as worldly and tough and as manipulative as ever. She might even be better, more powerful this time around.

Nothing much happened with Xan for a while. Her thoughts were a bit scattered, as was her body. When she finally does get it together, she still has power … of a sort. It’s just a bit unpredictable. Nothing works quite the way it’s supposed to or the way she’s used to and she has a series of adventures stemming from some inadvertent magic.

Oh yes, Xan will come back. It will take more than a Great Big rock to keep her down! She manages to gather herself together and goes into hiding in another realm (who says witches don’t have time travel?!) so that she can heal herself and figure out where she went wrong.

Xan knows she can’t touch the girls, now that they have their One True Love, but that doesn’t mean that she can’t go after their children. I mean, she didn’t have any problem taking away their parents’ powers–she should have no trouble with this next generation. She gets a new see mirrior so that she can keep track of them all while she works on strengthening her own powers. In the pursuit of youth and beauty she discovers a magic that is older than any she has known before. It is hidden deep within a book of lesser magic, and when she figures out how to unlock the spell she gets more than she bargained for! But she also realizes that with it she is now powerful enough to defeat even Elric–and she begins to plan….

I think Xan will pull herself together and continue to cause the sisters harm. She will still always what she can’t have. Power, love, family.

Maybe it rains on her and she soaks into the ground, draws from other natural elements and becomes even more powerful! :-O I would like to think she’s just gone though.
