The Book Club/Hat Contest
UPDATE: Cherry Forums is back up and the book club begins tomorrow, which is good because Krissie and Eileen are traveling back from Dallas today so they wouldn’t have been there anyway.
Nothing but good times ahead.
Previous post:
So the server that holds Cherry Forums shut us down.
Mollie called to ask why they’d shut us down without warning. They said there was a flaw in our code.
We checked the code. It’s flawless.
Our tech guy called them and said, “There’s no mistake in the code. Why exactly did you think here was?” AKA Why did you shut us down without warning?
They said there must be something wrong with the code and refused to post the forums again.
Mollie called and said, “If you cannot tell us what’s wrong, how are we supposed to fix it?”
They said, “We don’t know, but if happens again, you’ll be permanently barred from the server.”
Mollie said, “Not a problem, I’ve already moved the forums to another server.”
They said, “Oh.”
But now, for some reason, GoDaddy is not forwarding from the old URL. The forums are fine. They are safe on a new server. You just can’t GET there. Yet.
So when the forums are up, which should be any minute but could be another day, we’ll start talking about the books over there. And we’ll let you know here.
Yes, we are annoyed.

I am the first
We are all very grateful to Mollie. Being Forumless was not pleasant.
About the Book Club. This is going to be a great discussion. Jenny, Eileen, and Anne have some questions that will make us chuckle and make us think. And then there are the hats, they come with magical powers so look out for Xan.
I would’ve been annoyed also.
Some Servers just suck. But the one you have is a pretty good one, which makes it doubly annoying to you, I’ll bet.
Gotta like that customer service.
So glad you’re back up and running. Even while at National I stopped by for my “Forums fix” and was disappointed. Oh well, it caused me to return to the bar and I did get to chat with the amazing Eileeen Dreyer (loved your workshop, Eileen)and a bunch of Cherries, even had dinner with a couple of delightful Cherry ladies.
I also shook hands with Pat Gaffney and was grateful for the table between us because after I gushed that I loved her books I couldn’t put two coherent sentences together.
So Jenny, here’s a story about you:
I was asked if you were at the Literacy signing. A couple of the authors said you walked through and you’d lost at least twenty-five pounds had cut your hair short, let it go gray, and looked absolutely stunning. I said I had no idea about that (you’d mentioned the hair but wasn’t sure if you’d actually gone through with the plan) but I said I didn’t think you were planning on being there this year. They were adamant it was you.
Ah. I’ve had some experiences with GoDaddy’s customer support. Why I host all my client sites elsewhere. For less.
Glad the Forums are back. Hope someone took a snap of your Doppelgager. /;+)
Well somebody looked great but it wasn’t me, Roben.
I did get my hair cut and I am letting it go gray, but I’m still fat and I wasn’t there.
Sigh.
Well that’s okay, Jenny, I regained the five pounds I lost to go to National at National. Go figure. Once I get to Australia and Mum feeds me all of the things I always miss … well, a week or so later, come conference time, I won’t be able to fit into my clothes. (The one wearing p.j.’s and sunglasses will be me.)
Something went wonky all over the net, because other authors websites were down also. They are back up today. Glad the forums will be up shortly!
