Mare’s Contest

Mare is giving away a crocheted bag in Mare’s blues with sparkly magic touches and . . . I’ll show you on Monday. Or maybe Tuesday. Depends on when she gets it done. (Jenny crochets and you know how Mare feels about things that are, uh, individual) And of course a signed copy of The Unfortunate Miss Fortunes to read while you’re flaunting it.

All you have to do is answer the questions, we’ll choose somebody at random from the comments between July 9 and July 15, and the winner will have the bag and a book signed by all of us. We’ll post the winner here, so check back to see who won.

Update:
Okay, I am behind as usual, so the bag isn’t blocked or lined and will probably get a few more stars and blue flowers there in the grass, but it’s here’s the partially finished Mare Bag. You must be so impressed with me.

Oh, that’s exciting! I believe I’ve already entered but I’d enter again if I thought it would increase my chances. :)

I think it’s crocheted bag month since I’m working on one of my own. Can’t wait to see the photos, Jenny!

A sparkly magic bag. I need a sparkly magic bag. Doesn’t everyone?

Bag? Or shrug? Not that it matters - I bet it’s fabulous either way!

  4. Jenny Crusie July 9th, 2007 11:37 am

I was working on the shrug and then realized there were size issues. As in, “What size should this be?”

So I switched to a bag designed around Mare’s personality, and it’s so much more fun. Because I put glittery yarn in it and will sew silver stars to it and generally just go nuts.

And in my genius, I put a pocket on the front that is big enough to hold one mass market paperback. So you don’t have to search through the bag to find you book. I rock.

Working on the strap now. Then I have to sew the stars to it, and line it, but I’ll probably take a picture of it unlined so you can see it.

Of course, it’s going to take courage to CARRY this bag, it’s like Mare. You can’t miss it. Lots of blue sparkly magic on here.

Jenny, you realize you’re giving us all BAG ENVY, don’t you? Especially since my favorite store for purses was closed today. Shame on me for waiting until the absolute last second to try to find a cute purse for Dallas. But I *did* already find and purchase one for Dayton.
Yes, pictures would be good. We love drooling over those pictures.

A bag, crocheted by your very own hands? Stars and blue sparkly stuff? Sounds good to me, well, you know the drill…

Yes, it sounds good to me too.

I really NEED a sparkly magic bag–and I would SO use it for work! Imagine all the comments I would get when my passengers got a load of my purse, complete with a copy of The Unfortunate Miss Fortunes in the front pocket! Commuters LOVE to read–I would be able to just nudge them in the right direction! *wink*

Okay, the bag’s up there, unfinished but up there. The sparkles don’t show up in the picture, but trust me, there is much glitter.

I’m a little behind . . . and a little tacky. Kind of like Mare.

Ooo–I hope you pick me–I LOVE it, and the colors are SO me!! *grin*

“You must be so impressed with me”

Yes, yes we are. Your stuff (the hats and bag) is bold; it’ll take very confident people to pull them off successfully. But then I don’t think there’s a shortage of them around here ;)

What a gorgeous bag! I want it, I want it…Mine all mine!

Cool bag. I keep wondering which of Mare’s movie costumes would go best with the bag. Obviously, the Corpse Bride comes to mind, but that’s cheating. Maybe she’s a Joss Whedon fan, in which case, Kaylee from Serenity would like it for a fun day out with Simon.
