What I’d Do with Dee’s Power

Aaaaargh!! Well, one of these days I’m going to learn how to use the internet. I’ve been trying all afternoon to figure out how to upload the picture of my needlepointed butterflies onto the blog. I’ve been dismally unsuccessful. I’m going to keep trying, though. In the meantime, I did manage to get it up on my own blog, www.eileendreyer.com/blog/index.html

[Note from Eileen: Thank you, Jenny. I’m feeling much better now]

Eileen’s Butterfly Needlepoint

I think it’s beautiful. It frames out to about 21″ x 21″, and has purple butterflies for Lizzie, blue ones for Mare and lots of green for Dee. And, as we said, you’ll have til Sunday to tell us what you’d do with Dee’s power, after which we’ll pick a winner, and announce it sometime next week(Jenny has the schedule. I just follow along).

So, what would I do with Dee’s power? I’m fascinated by shapeshifting. It’s one of the reasons I so loved doing the Miss Fortunes, because I got tired of the idea that if you were going to shift you could only do it into a big cat or dog. Now, I have nothing against cats and dogs. I’ve always had cats and dogs, and love them madly. And like RandomRanter, I’ve always said that in my next life I’d be a cat. Just sit in the window all day and curl up on a warm lap. I think it would be great.

But I’d hate to be that limited. I’m with Dee. I’d change into a variety of animals and people to get different prespectives. I was thinking of having her use it for undercover work, because I think if you have a talent, you should be productive with it. But Dee just isn’t a cop(well, a regular cop. She’s a sister cop). I love that she ended up using her skills for art. I think, though, that it would depend on how I felt, what I’d turn into. Dolphin one day, bird the next, (I adore the puppy idea….except I’d be housebroken). And then people of all different kinds. As a writer, I think how great it would be to actually inhabit the body of the people I’d like to write about. I’m just so Irish whitebread, I hesitate to portray anybody not like me. I’m afraid I’m going to get it wrong. But if I could actually walk around as them….

Okay, it’s the writer in me speaking. I’d also be very, very tempted to use my skill in undercover, especially in crimes against children. Although the law would definitely have to catch up with me. “Tell me,Detective Dreyer, how did you convince the defendent you were a twelve-year-old boy?”

And then, I’d be another dolphin. I can’t think of a better way to restore your sense of fun.

It’s a wild and wonderful world that we live in! So many furry, feathered creatures to change to and be.

Maybe, start with the As and work to the Zs.

I’d become a cat first. I have one and I’ve always wondered about her view of the world. Then I think I would like to try something fast, like a cheetah. I’d love the experience of racing across the landscape so effortlessly. And, oh yes, I’d have to try a bird too because who hasn’t dreamed of flying? A hawk maybe, with long gliding wings and sharp vision.

Thank you. All I did was follow the directions…and have a great framer(my needlepoint always ends up a bit off-square(okay, a lot off-square)

    Beautiful work, Eileen!

Yes, being a dolphin would definitely restore one’s sense of fun. I work at a dolphin center. Simply watching them for a few minutes has the same effect.

I thought I answered this already. I think I may seriously be losing my mind. Beautiful needlepoint, Eileen!!

As Dee, I’d just want to change, all the time. I mean, can you imagine if you were able to switch from a person to a bird to a cat to a shark, in about an hour?

I’m such an easy mark for animals though. I’d go traipsing through the woods as a small bird, then find a big dog trying to corner a small cat, so I’d want to turn into a bear to scare the dog, or something like that.

I think I’d also like to be a service dog, for my grandmother. She’s so stubborn that she won’t come live with us yet, but she’s almost ready to take a dog. I’d like to be the dog, just to be close to her, be able to help her, without her feeling like she was being a burden. That would be the most amazing thing - to be able to help my grandmother without her feeling guilt for accepting the help.

What a GREAT power that would be.

I’d love to try all walks of life, but then … what if you ended up as prey and got totally eaten?
    Ouch.
    Hmmmmm … an elephant, perhaps?
    Lion?
    Tiger?
    Bears?
    Oh my!
    *snort*

Seriously though, as short as their life span may be, I think I’d love to be a hummingbird. They totally fascinate me.

I would love to have her power. I have read a lot about shape shifting and its really cool. First I would be a cat, I am pagan and follow the goddess bastet- who is a cat so that would be very cool. Then I would be a dog and a dolphin. Cats are so sure of themselfs, it would be neat to have that lol. Dogs are very loyal and kind…and dolphins are so playful…I am a animal healer(reiki master, hands on healing)so it would be really neat to see everything from their eyes..
