It’s Out, It’s Out, It’s Out!!
Finally, it’s pub day. Can’t tell you how excited we are. And we can’t wait to see whether you like our long-suffering Dee, Lizzie and Mare. Okay, and even Xan. She thinks she suffers, too. Okay, and Danny, Elric and Crash….and Jude. Who really does suffer. To celebrate(well, besides the virtual champagne), I thought I’d put up another review from somebody who actually read the book. It’s from FRESH FICTION, and reviewed by Paula Myers(don’t you just love a reviewer who publishes her name?) Since I’m still too cyberstupid to figure out how to cut and paste here without losing everything, I’m just going to give you the review part(although she did a beautiful synopsis as well).
The UNFORTUNATE MISS FORTUNES by Jennifer Crusie, Eileen Dreyer and Anne Stuart is a laugh-out-loud, supersexy paranormal romance. Dee, Lizzie and Mare are fabulous characters, wonderfully amusing and emotionally vulnerable, with a thread of steel running through them, holding them together for a common cause. The men in their lives are fascinating, mysteriously intriguing and sexy! Xantippe is deliciously evil and occasionally sympathetic, and her cohorts are the perfect foils for her wickedness. This is not an anthology(thank you, Paula), but a single story written by three very talented authors. The individual style of each author shines through in the story, and you’ll have fun trying to figure out which author wrote which character. Fans of Crusie, Dreyer and Stuart are in for a unique treat!

Thanks for hanging in with us. I’ll be back Thursday to tell you what I’d do if I had Dee’s power, and put up a picture of the winning butterfly needlework. And then, Sunday, we’ll announce the winner.
good reading!

Finally a reviewer who gets it ! Thank you Paula.
Got my book - LOVE IT!!!
That’s a wonderful review. It would drive me to the bookstore if I wasn’t already going.
I was so excited when I saw them in the grocery store this morning! I don’t get paid til the 6th, so I cheated and peaked at the last chapter. But I also rearranged things a little - you’re now positioned at eye height, front and center. Hope that resolves me of my guilt.
I mean absolve, jeez.
You are so absolved, even though I can’t find the “reading the last chapter” sin in my handbook(haven’t we all done it?)
Yippee! I am now the proud owner of the most beautiful book out there. I had to ask my independent bookseller for it since I couldn’t find it in general fiction or romance under any of the three authors’ names. They looked it up, and said they did have one copy. (Just one!!!!) Apparently their system showed it authored only by Anne Stuart, so she looked on that shelf and didn’t find it, just like I didn’t. So I told her (the owner of store) that I’d looked under all 3 authors’ names and didn’t find it. She then went to the anthologies section to look for it. I patiently explained that it’s not an anthology, but that maybe it was shelved there anyway. We didn’t find it, and she was stunned by the idea that one novel could be authored by three people. I explained that Jenny had co-authored two other books with Bob, and this was simply adding one more author. Told them about the Dogs and Goddesses blog, and everyone there seemed interested. Maybe one of them will check you guys out.
Off to devour this books as fast as possible, then re-read it more slowly to actually get it.
PS - I read the last chapter of a book at the bookstore today, too, but in my defense it was a book I had gotten the audiobook of from the library, and the last 10 minutes wouldn’t play due to scratches! So now I know how it ended and can sleep once again.
Picked up my copy today. Yay! After being bitten by a black widow spider and having a swollen leg for days it was nice to get out. Even if the gal at the bookstore had some difficulties over the phone, I did hear her say, “Brian how do you spell unfortunate?” Summer help. Watcha gonna do?
Then when I arrived she couldn’t find it in the data base. I said, “Oh, but I know these authors, and it is out, yesterday was the lay-down.” She said, “You know them?” I nodded, I wasn’t EXACTLY lying I did meet Jenny in a gift shop once. Heh.
Anyway, I spent the afternoon on the couch and it is fantastic, the book I mean, the couch is pretty good too. I’m enjoying each of the sisters and their hunky guys. I especially loved the owl scene, great sexual tension. So tell me who wrote Xan’s part? Was that the true collaboration viewpoint? Or did one of you write her? I’m totally loving this, you should all be very proud. I think to do three viewpoints from three strong authors, all famous in their own right, must have been a major undertaking. A fabulous job, and for me, it is proving seamless. About to start chapter three.
You know us.
Eileen’s the owl scene, of course, since it’s Dee.
I wrote Xan with input from Krissie and Eileen.
Thank you so much, Robena!
Congratulations Ladies. I finished the book last night, and it was Awesome! So many perfect moments, preening owls, squished cockroaches, frogs and cobblestones. I loved it. If there is any justice in this world, it will head to the top of the bestseller lists.
Just picked it up and am only on page four……but can honestly say it’s the best book I’ve read all year!
What with everything, I still managed to remember the 26th was the release date. I needed the distraction, and there you guys were. I’m going to have to read this again, many times, because I was just too scattered. But ditto on your individual voices being identifiable at the same time the whole hung together perfectly.
I also loved feeling like the “in-crowd” because I could tell by the butterflies who was up next. Excellent work all around.
