Free Books
We got our author copies in the mail and the cover is so beautiful, I can’t believe it. Just fabulous.
Oh, you’d like to see it, too?
Mollie’s giving away fifty copies. No lie.
Here’s the deal: If you have a blog that’s been active at least six months (that’s active, folks, not in existence) and you would like to review The Unfortunate Miss Fortunes on that blog, please enter below. Mollie will choose fifty people from the first 100 entries and send a copy of the real book (not the butt ugly ARC) with this gorgeous cover that says “A Novel,” right there on it. In exchange, all we ask is that you review the book. You don’t have to give it a good review if you don’t like it, but you do have to talk about it. And if you let us know, we’ll link back to your review from this site.

You’re going to love this cover.

This is so exciting!
ooooooh exciting. I adore the cover and have fingers and toes crossed to be picked! I would do it even without the free book- but don’t tell anyone.
Weeee! Made it!
HA! Jen broke it first.
Gosh, BCB, you could always use… /my/ email address. I’d forward it to you.
Honest.
Don’t I look honest?
Sigh.
I’m going to buy the pretty copy version so I have something to loan to friends, ’cause the ARC is staying right here where I can keep an eye on it.
Did not! And BCB - aren’t you supposed to be reading something!
Ha! Jenny (or whoever fixed it) you are amazing! It worked.
Yea! It worked for me too.
And Mary, I seem to remember the last time you sent a book to me. And I seem to remember I kept it for a very loooong time before I forwarded it on. I’m pretty sure you remember it too. Nope. You do not look particularly sincere at this exact moment.
Yes, I can see you.
Hi,Jennifer,my name is Lady T and I picked up one of those “butt ugly” ARCS of The Unfortunate Miss Fortunes(I’ve seen worse, trust me) at BEA and am loving it. I’ll be reviewing it for my blog,Living Read Girl, sometime soon and if you like,I can send you or your PR people the link to it.
Wow. I was surprised to see I’ve had a blog for over two years. And I never celebrated my anniversaries. Does that make me a guy? ‘Cause that wouldn’t be good.
See, I always wondered if Lady T wasn’t Jen Talty using an alias. Now I know.
Thank you, Lady T. Of course we’ll link to your review. And really sorry about the ugly ARC.
*crosses fingers for winning*
I did this over at Argh Ink, but now I think that I have to have done it here! So I have entered all the details again.
And the comments about it not working were because the fields were all mislabelled when it first went up!
You’re fine if you entered on Argh. Mollie caught them all. And she fixed the fields as soon as we realized they were screwed up.
It takes us a little while, but eventually, we get it.
Okay, I’m a little short, but I do write about romances on my blog. And politics. And my goofy crush on a certain federal prosecutor.
I promise I will do my best to give the book my undivided attention. I know I can do a better job of reviewing than that scary so-and-so who probably never READ it!
(Is this the part where I beg?)
Patrick Fitzgerald?
I am so there.
Jenny - I’m flattered you might have thought I was Lady T (she’s pretty cool) - but I don’t think I could ever in good faith call myself a ‘lady’, even as an alias, snort.
Is there something we can do to up our chances? Beg? Do a pre-review? Scream out our window how wonderful you all are? Hell…. I’d even act like a lady if I had too.
Not only will I blog it on MY blog, I will blog it on Livejournal (since 2000 - but it’s a private blog with 70 or so readers), facebook will pick it up and I’ll put it up on a site (www.fasterthantheworld.com) that gets an aaverage of 1000 hits per day…
Not that I’m begging or anything *whistles*.
I have nothing to do with the choices. Mollie said to do 100 so the people who read the blog at work would have the same shot that people who read it at home. We didn’t know if we’d get fifty the first night–doesn’t seem likely–but she wanted to make double sure that morning people would have a shot, too.
oh please, please, pick me!
To quote Horschack on WELCOME BACK KOTTER,
“OOO-OOOH, ME! ME! PICK ME!”
That’s my promotion for chosing me, even though I’m a day late already.
Thanks,Jennifer and to you too,Jennifer T,for thinking that I’m cool:) I finished the book sooner than I expected and my review is up. Hope that all of the authors like it and don’t mind the Buffy clip that I added to it( I chose this particular clip due to the theme of the song and the butterfly top wore by the singer).
Well, I was planning on blog-reviewing TUMF on the day after its release date, because I have to actually get it first and read it (and I’ve made sure I’m not working on the day it comes out, or the day after, just so I can read it!).
But if Mollie happened to pick my name, I certainly wouldn’t turn down a copy. And as long as you don’t object Jenny (or Anne or Eileen), I’d still like to give away three copies (that I’m going to buy) to my blog readers. You guys don’t have to do a thing for this, it’s just something I do once in a while. But that’s the plan. As long as you don’t mind.
Dee, that would be fabulous. Thank you so much!
And thank you, Lady T, for the great review. I love that clip from Buffy, especially the “BUNNIES!” part.
And I’m not picking blogs. Mollie is. I know NOTHING about the selection process.
Or anything, really.
Jenny - you know everything.
Lady T - great review!
ok, i already read it cause i haunt ebay and read it and already wrote a review…acutally, i usually review (and use capital letters) on non-fiction jewelry design books, for magazines, but i felt so inspired and i loved the book and the sparkles and the bunnies….and the shoes…
thank all of you wonderful authors, for writing this work of fiction. it is fiction, isn’t it?
I can’t speak for the others, but I’m definitely the Queen of the Universe.
Well, Jenny, we already knew that! *wink*
My copy arrived ten minutes ago and the JOY IN MUDVILLE IS A THING TO BEHOLD!
Ahem.
Love the cover. Can’t wait to dive in. Will alert all and sundry when the review goes live.
