Lizzie and Salem’s Fork
Lizzie doesn’t spend much time outside her house. Her gift is too out of control – if she were in the grocery store and something upset her she might very well turn the cabbages into ferrets, and then what would the neighbors think? She’s only held one job – she worked for a day at the Greasy Fork, but when a customer sent back a hamburger because it was too rare she thought she could zap it herself. She brought back a hockey puck, the customer broke his tooth, and she decided she was better off her in workshop.
During the three days the story takes place she barely leave the house. Once Lizzie’s sexuality is unleashed she becomes even more of a recluse – where before she didn’t leave the house much, now she doesn’t even want to leave her bed, much less her bedroom. She’s having too much fun. She recognizes the places of power in the town – the Great Big Rock (she runs there when she throws a pale of water on Elric) and the circle, where they have their final showdown. She’s just happier in bed.
In the end Lizzie makes her own world, and she’ll be just as happy living in a castle in Spain or a chateau in France, as long as Elric’s beside her.
And she’s learned to control her gift, so no more accidental ferrets.

Because ferrets should only be on purpose. Especially if they’re purple, like the bunnies. Or even mauve or coral. Lizzie definitely has a lot of good ideas, I’m glad she gets the implementation under control.
This site is so lovely, good work, Mollie!
I think the real question is would a wizard wear trousers? I thought they always wore robes. If Lizzie got riled when Elric was around, this fashion choice could have dire consequences for their love life.
I mean, in the finest literary tradition ferrets always demonstrate an affinity for men’s trousers, causing much hilarity (for the on-lookers, one assumes). If Elric wears robes, however, this should not present a problem.
Then again, if he’s spending much time around Lizzie, it doesn’t seem like he’d be wearing much of anything, so he should be okay.
Ditto on the praise for the new site!
